Debenham High School, part of Heart of Suffolk Education Trust, is a high achieving Church of England standalone secondary academy, with approximately 710 students aged 11-16, and serves a catchment area north-west of Ipswich in rural Suffolk.

Teaching Assistant

Required immediately

Part-time for 5 afternoons per week (1:55-3:45), 38 weeks (term time only). Initially fixed term until 31 August 2027, with the potential for a permanent appointment subject to future student support requirements.

Full-time equivalent salary Spinal points 3 - 4 : £25,614 - £26,016 FTE. Actual starting salary £5,285. Job shares will be considered.

Our team of teaching assistants, led by our Special Educational Needs Coordinator, work alongside teachers to support students within and outside the classroom.

Teaching Assistants provide support to the teacher and through this to pupils and to the teaching of the curriculum.  Teaching Assistants work under the direction of the Teacher, whether with the whole class, a small group, or an individual pupil, to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential.

You will be a well organised good communicator with good teamwork skills. You will be competent in literacy and numeracy, and be able to adapt according to the needs of the students and situations you will be working with.
